I had the great pleasure and opportunity to attend, along with my colleague Cherrie Stewart, the annual spring meeting of the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys on March 16, 2023, which was held in London in the beautiful Waldorf hotel.
The theme of the conference was “Strategies for Success” and attendees heard various interesting presentations including a lively panel discussion with industry leaders from a wide variety of businesses discussing, amongst other topics, the place of IP strategies in the wider context of running a business and conducting preliminary clearance searches and the various pitfalls involved developing an IP strategy.
We also had an update on both UK and EU case law which was very enlightening. Other presentations educated the audience of approximately 200 on the topics of acquiescence and managing IP and a second panel discussed the subject of managing IP risk.
We also had plenty of opportunities to catch up with our IP colleagues and introduce ourselves to some new contacts. The attendees had altogether a very enjoyable and informative experience.
